Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of BlockJot, operated by OMU SAS (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using BlockJot, you agree to these Terms.
1. Service description
BlockJot is a minimal block editor for focused note-taking, available at blockjot.com. It allows you to create, organize, and manage notes using a block-based editor with support for text, headings, lists, code blocks, quotes, and images.
2. Accounts
- You must sign in using Google OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account.
- You must provide accurate information. One person, one account.
- You must be at least 16 years old to use BlockJot.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
3. Subscriptions and billing
- Free plan: limited features as described on our pricing page.
- Pro plan: $9/month or $90/year, with expanded features.
- All payments are processed by Stripe. We never handle your card details directly.
- Subscriptions renew automatically. You may cancel at any time via the Stripe billing portal.
- Upon cancellation, your Pro features remain active until the end of the current billing period.
- No refunds for partial billing periods.
- We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Price changes do not affect active billing periods.
4. Your content
- You own your content. All notes, pages, text, and images you create in BlockJot remain your intellectual property.
- You grant us a limited license to store, display, and transmit your content solely to provide the service.
- This license ends when you delete your content or your account.
- You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any content, including images.
- We do not access, read, analyze, or use your content for any purpose other than providing the service. No AI or machine learning is applied to your content.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to breach, circumvent, or test the security of our systems.
- Scrape, crawl, or automated-access the service beyond normal use.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the service.
- Upload malicious content, malware, or content that violates applicable laws.
- Use the service to store or distribute illegal material.
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation.
- Interfere with other users' access to the service.
- Upload images exceeding 10 MB per file.
Violation of these rules may result in immediate account termination without notice.
6. Service availability
- We aim to keep BlockJot available 24/7 but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
- We may perform maintenance, updates, or modifications at any time.
- We are not liable for downtime, data loss, or service interruptions.
- We reserve the right to discontinue the service with 90 days' notice. In that event, we will provide you with the ability to export your data.
7. Data and privacy
Your privacy matters. Our Privacy Policy describes what data we collect and how we handle it. By using BlockJot, you acknowledge and agree to our data practices as described in the Privacy Policy.
8. Intellectual property
- BlockJot, its logo, design, and code are the property of OMU SAS.
- These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.
- Feedback or suggestions you provide may be used without obligation to you.
9. Limitation of liability
- BlockJot is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, revenue, or business.
- Our maximum aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from your use of BlockJot is limited to the total amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim, or €50, whichever is greater.
- Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the service or violation of these Terms.
11. Account termination
- By you: You may delete your account at any time. Your data will be permanently erased within 30 days.
- By us: We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms, with or without notice depending on severity.
- Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. Sections 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, and 12 survive termination.
12. Governing law and disputes
- These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France.
- Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of BlockJot shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Paris, France.
- Before initiating legal proceedings, you agree to attempt resolution by contacting us at legal@blockjot.com. We commit to responding within 30 days.
13. Changes to these Terms
- We may update these Terms from time to time.
- Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice at least 30 days before taking effect.
- Continued use of BlockJot after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
- If you disagree with the changes, you may delete your account before they take effect.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
15. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding BlockJot.
